Nufern Discontinuing Manufacturing of Q-Switched Fiber Lasers

Over the years Jimani has used Nufern, IPG, JPT and SPI fiber laser modules in fiber laser marking and engraving systems that we have built and sold. Last week we were informed that one of our fiber laser module suppliers, Nufern, has decided to discontinue manufacturing of those types of products. About two years ago Nufern was acquired by Coherent Inc. Coherent is a large laser company headquartered in Santa Clara, CA. The discontinuation letter from Coherent/Nufern stated:

This letter is to inform you that Coherent is discontinuing the Diamond FLQ series of Q-Switched Fiber Lasers (also previously known as NuQ or NuQA).

Sales Obsolescence:

Coherent will continue to take new orders and honor valid quotes until June 30, 2019.

Service Obsolescence:

Coherent will continue to provide service (depot repair) and product support for Diamond FLQ products until December 1, 2025.

Since a number of Jimani Langolier Fiber Laser Marking Systems have Nufern lasers installed in them, I thought that this was an important piece of information to publish. Please feel free to contact Jim Earman of Jimani at 805-486-1399 if any Langolier users have any questions or wish to discuss the significance of this.

The Coherent/Nufern decision will have no effect on Jimani's continued support of products that we have sold.
